Bootfitting

Bootfitting is the specialized process of customizing ski boots to an individual's feet and needs. This process is essential to ensuring comfort, support, and optimal performance while skiing. Properly fitting ski boots can significantly improve your experience on the snow, reduce fatigue, and prevent injuries.

What does Bootfitting involve?

1. Foot analysis

A boot fitting specialist will first analyze the shape and size of your feet. This includes measuring the length, width, volume, arch of the foot, and ankle mobility. The analysis will take into account past experiences and problems.

2. Choosing shoes

Based on the analysis, the appropriate ski boots that best suit your needs are selected.

3. Adjustments

Shoes can be further adjusted using various techniques, such as:

Thermoforming: Using heat to adjust the inside of the shoe.
Additional inputs: Using special inserts for support and comfort.
Design and spread: Shoe width adjustment for a better fit.

4. Testing

After adjustments, it is important to test the boots in the snow to make sure they meet your needs.

Why do we recommend bootfitting?

Bootfitting can significantly increase skiing efficiency in several ways:

Optimizing force transmission

Properly fitting ski boots allow for better force transfer between the skier and the ski. When boots are precisely adjusted, energy loss is reduced when transitioning from turn to turn, leading to better control and faster reactions on the snow.

Comfort and fatigue reduction

Comfortable shoes reduce discomfort and fatigue while skiing. Reducing pressure on specific points on the foot prevents pain, allowing for longer and more intense skiing.

Injury prevention

Properly fitting boots reduce the risk of injuries such as sprains and strains that can occur due to improper foot support. Reducing these risks allows skiers to focus on technique and the enjoyment of skiing.

Personalization

Bootfitting involves adjustments that are specific to the individual's foot, ensuring an optimal fit. This process may include the creation of anatomical inserts and adjustments to the interior of the shoe, further improving comfort and performance.

These benefits make bootfitting recommended for all skiers, regardless of experience level. By properly selecting and fitting your ski boots, you can enhance your skiing experience, increase comfort, and reduce the risk of injury.

Services

Anatomical ski inserts are a great investment for anyone who wants to enjoy comfortable and safe skiing or cycling.

By perfectly adapting to your foot, they will allow you to transfer forces more directly to your skis and bike, and prevent many of the problems associated with uncomfortable ski/bike boots. Especially in ski boots, inserts represent a good foundation on which other modifications can be effectively implemented.

We install inserts into armor to increase comfort and increase "performance".

These are some of our main or most common services that we provide as part of bootfitting. Of course, there are quite a few other techniques and solutions that we use in our work. If you have a specific problem or situation, please contact us.

Modifying your inner boots is an important step towards optimal skiing enjoyment. With a well-adjusted inner boot, you will be able to enjoy skiing better and achieve better results. Existing inner boots can also be modified using IPS or IPC techniques (removing or adding foam). It is generally believed that the lifespan of a ski boot is 6 to 10 years. Depending on use.

However, it is a fact that this applies to the shell of a ski boot. Inner boots, because they are made of sensitive foam materials, have a lifespan that is half that of a regular boot. Worn-out inner boots can be replaced with similar after-market Eva foam boots. More demanding skiers and competitors often resort to Foam inner boots or ZIPFIT boots.

It is a heat treatment of inner boots. With a special dedicated device, we can heat treat all inner boots that are made of suitable foam. Today, such boots are already in all mid- and high-end brands.

It is a process where we fill all the empty spaces between the foot and the shell with a special foam. This ensures the most direct transfer of forces from the skier to the ski. Of course, assuming that we also have anatomical inserts in the boot.

Boot expansion is one of the more common modifications in bootfitting. It is a process in which the inside of the boot is mechanically expanded using special tools and techniques. We also expand classic footwear such as running shoes, hiking boots, and cycling shoes.

Boot sanding is a technique used in boot fitting to adjust boots to the individual needs of the skier. It is a process in which special sanding tools are used to remove material from the inside of the plastic shell of the boot.

We install lifters on competition skis (including junior) and high-end alpine skis that allow this.

3 or 5mm plates are installed. There are mainly two reasons for installing lifters. One is better force transmission, the other is protection against sole wear. The second reason is also very important, because today a lot of people walk in ski boots on surfaces such as asphalt. This can cause the soles to wear to such an extent that there is no longer a good connection between the ski boot and the ski binding.
